Torchwood!!!

So who's watching Torchwood??? I am :D

I'm also quite liking the unusual format, where it's one mega-long episode spread over five days. Although it has caused a few fights over the TV remote, as my brother is under the impression that Torchwood is a stupid, waste-of-time show... what a deluded fool he is :XD:. It's also doing a great job of keeping me entertained until the next Dr Who episode in November :aww:.

Art Updates

Gahh it's been so long since I uploaded a piece of art . I know I said I was working a couple of pieces, and I am, it's just that this last week and a bit has been a hell of a lot more busy than I anticipated. I've had three essays to finish, and a poetry anthology to put together and bind for English. All in all it means I have an barely any time to sit down and actually do any art, and on the occasion I do I'm about as inspired as a damp sponge ^^;. Ah well, the summer holidays are only a few days away and I will have a couple of weeks to work on my art list before I go on holiday.

On a final note...

As part of my English work over the holidays I have to read a 'good' book. Basically one that is a classic or has won some highbrow awards etc. Now my English teacher does not really consider the books I usually read, ie paranormal romance and the like, to fit into this category, so she has been giving me lists of books I should try and read instead. After turning down about six of her selections, I finally relented and decided to give the next one she suggested a try, coz to be honest I think she was getting a bit pissed off with me for being so 'narrow-minded'. And so I ended up reading 'The Time Traveler's Wife' by Audrey Niffengger, and was actually pleasantly surprised. It's not my usual kind of book, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and really recommend it if anyone is looking for a book that will make them laugh, cry, love and get really caught up in the characters. The story follows the lives of Henry and Clare, who meet when Clare is six and Henry is thirty six, and get married when Clare is twenty two and Henry is thirty. How is that possible? Well Henry suffers from a rare genetic condition where he is plucked out of his own time and deposited somewhere along his own timeline, or that of somebody who means a lot to him, such as Clare. The novels follows the trials and tribulations the pair face as they fall in love and attempt to lead normal lives despite Henry's condition. If sci-fi isn't your thing, then don't let that deter you. Although central to the plot, it is merely a means to an end and Niffengger doesn't let it take over the story. 'The Time Traveler's Wife' is an intensely moving book that really makes you think about love, life and morality, and I have to admit that it made me cry, which is rare.

Oh... and it's being made into a movie and will be out in August this year :D

Hi I'm Rachel, although around here I'm pretty much known as Harly :D.

I live in England, about an hour or so outside of London in a tiny little rural village. I'm 17 and am studying for my A-Levels at college. I've been riding horses since I was five, and have had my own since I was six. Currently I have a 15.2hh Welsh Cob mare called Rabbit, and a 12.3hh Welsh pony called Bracken. On top of that I also have four Labradors called Amber, Starbuck, Costa and Barney, two cats called Bramble and Robbie, a goat called Lucky and a whole gaggle of ducks, chickens and geese.

I'm a mostly digital equine artist, and I've been drawing horses for pretty much as long as I've been around them. I only picked up digital when I joined dA nearly two years ago. I started out on Corel Painter, but I've now been using Photoshop since September. I joined dA to get back into drawing and to share my work with like-minded people. During my time here I've made some wonderful friends and have found it on the whole to be a fun and rewarding place to be.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. My trade and request status can be found in my 'To-Do' box, and sometimes in my journal.

Harly xx

The closest thing I can imagine to the thrill of being on a horse that is clearing big fences at speed is zooming down an icy mountain slope on skis :giggle:
Ah but time is such a rare thing at the moment :shakefist:!!! :giggle:
